Paintwork Correction is the process of machining a vehicles painted surfaces with rotary polishers and varying grades of specialist polishes and compounds. This is a highly specialised process that requires a high degree of experience and knowledge coupled with specialist measuring and lighting equipment.....especially when you consider that different manufacturers use different paint tyoes which all need to be recognised and dealt with in their own unique way to bring out the best in them

When you comission a vehicle to KrystalKleenDetail for this service you can be assured all of the above as Marc has over 20 years experience in this field and is regarded as one of the best available.

What happens next ?

All Paintwork Correction procedures will begin with an in-depth consultation and assesment with the customer. This will ascertain the most important aspect of the process.........."Customer Expectation". This will also include us gaining as much information about the car as possible including any known history of previous repair work etc., Following on from this the vehicle will be subject to an initial inspection where it will be inspected visually under specialist lighting to highlight swirl marks and surface imperfections before a series of paint thickness measurements are taken. Once this is completed the final decision will be made as to which Paint Correction package is required from the following options.......although there are also packages which can be tailor made to a customers specific requirements. Please contact us to enquire further regarding these.

2-3 Stage Correction - Price from £480.oo

This is one of our most popular correction services and is especially well suited to previously owned vehicles that are have been recently purchased. A 2 or 3 stage correction process will remove swirl marks and minor paint 'bruising', light scuff marks and scratches that havent penetrated through the clearcoat will also be either removed or considerably reduced alongside bird etching marks etc. We would estimate that between 80 and 90% of marks will be removed from the vehicles paintwork resulting in an outstanding finish where depth and clarity will be restored to the paintwork. This will allow for the flakes in metallic coatings to become more visually pronounced and able to show their true colours. Non metallic coatings will take on a 'wet-look' effect. The darker the colour the more pronounced the effect, although lighter colours also lend themselves exceptionally well to this specification

 4-5 Stage Correction - price from 720.oo

The next stage available in our paint Correction packages is the 4-5 stage where all of the previous specification on the 2-3 stage will be carried out but a more indepth degree of polishing takes place. Small stonechips will be cosmetically repaired and deeper scratches will be re-laquered where necessary (as long as the base coat hasnt been compromised). The initial stages of machine polishing will employ  coarser grades of polishes & compounds to remove those deeper marks and localised areas of wetsanding will be carried out where necessary. This will all be pre-agreed with the customer beforehand. Two final stages of fine machine polishing will take place where the finish is refined to a virtual mirror finish. A coat of sealant will be applied to the paintwork prior to two coats of carnauba wax. In addition the interior will be fully vacuumed with all hard surfaces cleaned and leather given a single stage 'Cleanse & Protect'.

Rectification Correction - price from £1150.oo

This procedure is ideally suited to vehicles where the paint finish is affected by what is known as 'Orange Peel'. This is where the appearance of the reflection in the paint becomes uneven due to high and low spots in the paint finish. This is becoming more and more common especially with the advent of the new water based paint finishes that have been introduced over recent years. The finish loses its ability to reflect light and reflections due to the loss of clarity.

All preparation stages of the 4-5 stage correction will be carried out. However, before polishing work commences gloss levels will be digitally measured and recorded. Exterior badging will be removed alongside any exterior trim that is necessary for access. All painted surfaces will then be 'rectified' where high spots will be brought down (within allowable tolerances) to meet with the 'low' spots which will give an even level of paint finish as opposed to the peaks and troughs that existed before....KrystalKleenDetail term this process as 'Equalising the clearcoat'. At regular stages throughout all worked areas of paint will be measured and re-measured again during this procedure to ensure that no unnecessary excess topcoat is removed. Surface temperatures will also be measured with digital infra red thermometers to ensure accuracy's of readings taken. Once the required rectification has been achieved and we are confident that no more can be safely achieved then the polishing stages will begin with multiple applications of specialist compounds and polishes being used to refine the the finish to near perfection.

Gloss levels will then be measured to compare with the original readings taken at the beginning before rectification processes were commenced  The results of this are truly jaw dropping in terms of the finish achieved and really have to be seen to be believed.
